Description 2PM – Masquerade

Group: 2PM
Title: Masquerade
Country: Japan
Language: Japanese
Release date: 14.11.2012

The original track listing for the single consisted of “Masquerade” and two original Japanese songs, “Stay Here “and” Falling in Love ” (bonus track). Due to Nichkhun’s car accident, there was controversy in South Korea, which eventually affected the release of the single, delaying it indefinitely. On October 5, it was announced that Nichkhun’s pause in work was over, and a note appeared on the Japanese website 2PM stating that the single would be released in mid-November with a different track list. On October 15, the covers of the single were re-announced, and a new CD track list was also released. It was also revealed that the original songs that were supposed to be on the single, “Stay Here” and “Falling in Love”, would be included on the band’s future releases.

A teaser of the music video was revealed on July 17, 2012 on the Japanese website 2PM. The music video premiered unscheduled on MTV Japan on August 21. On August 23, MTV Japan apologized for accidentally airing a music video. In the music video, the band sings and performs the song in a black studio with white lights on the roof. The clip also includes solo shots of the members. Taecyeon does not appear in the choreographed footage of the music video due to an arm injury.

The single was released in three editions: two limited editions of CD+DVD and a regular edition:
1) Limited Edition CD+DVD (version A): white cover, CD and DVD, including the “Masquerade” music video and a dance version of the music video.
2) Limited Edition CD+DVD (version B): black cover, CD and DVD, including the “Masquerade” music video and a filmed video clip.

2PM (투피엠) consists of 6 participants: Jun. K (formerly Junsu), Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung. The former leader of the band 2PM, Jay Park, left the group in 2010. JYPE trainees were members of the survival show “Hot Blood Men“, after which a group of 11 members of “One Day” was formed, ready for their debut. Later, the group was split into two: 2PM and 2AM. 2PM debuted on September 4, 2008 (JYP Entertainment label).

2PM is the only male group of JYP Entertainment to perform on stage for almost a decade (until recently, they were the second group in the agency as a whole after Wonder Girls, who disbanded in 2017); they also became the only one of One Day to renew their contracts with JYP almost in full (all members of 2AM left for different agencies; Taecyeon decided not to renew the contract, but, nevertheless, will continue to advance as a group).
